Easy New Year’s Resolution: Reduce Junk Mail

New Year’s Resolution: Clear paper clutter by reducing junk mail

Solution: Unsubscribe and opt-out

Total Time: < 30 minutes!

It’s not even 2024 yet and I already fulfilled a New Year’s resolution. It took less time than writing this blog post!

Opt-Out of credit and insurance offers

Visit https://www.optoutprescreen.com to opt out of pre-screened offers. It’s free and only takes a minute.

Opt-Out of commercial email lists

Provide your email to DMAchoice via https://www.ims-dm.com/cgi/optoutemps.php to opt-out of commercial email lists. It’s free and only takes a few seconds. This will only work for U.S. based companies who use eMPS to clean their lists.

Unsubscribe from catalogs

Register for free then select from a list of 10,000+ titles on https://catalogchoice.org to unsubscribe from. *Full disclosure – I’ve read great things about this service, unfortunately it hasn’t worked for me (yet). I am still awaiting their account confirmation email to complete my initial registration. The irony of that is not lost on me 😂

Opt-Out of promotional mail

DMAchoice also offers an opt-out service for promotional mailings via https://www.dmachoice.org/static/consumer_choice_tools.php. There is a $4 processing fee for this one. I was too cheap to try it just yet 😂 I’ll wait and see how much my junk mail is reduced by the free resources first.
